The industry operators were positively impressed by the novelty of a vertical exhibition only dedicated to the concrete industry and by the high specialization of the qualified visitors. The wide series of topics covered by the conferences organized during the entire duration of the show aroused great interest, too. In fact, GIC participants, in addition to having a full overview of the product offer on the various stands, had the opportunity to attend workshops and conferences focusing on specialized and innovative themes: the latest news in the additives industry, concrete pavements and flooring for logistics, ports and airports, controlled demolition and consolidation technology of reinforced concrete structures in seismic areas.
Last but not least, some exhibitors said they closed important deals during the exhibition, even on the first day of GIC! On www.gic-expo.it there are some downloadable interviews with a few exhibitors, with their direct impressions and comments about the event.
More than 30 industry associations and institutions have certainly contributed to the success of GIC 2016 with their support to the event, including the one of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport: a strong and important signal, which proves the interest from the political and institutional world for an event that can really give a new push to innovation and growth of the construction industry.
Gala Dinner and ICTA-Italian Concrete Technology Awards Ceremony in the Alberoni Museum
Great success also for the Gala Dinner organized in in the beautiful Hall of Tapestries of the Alberoni College in Piacenza, dinner attended by over 120 people, during which the ICTA-Italian Concrete Technology Awards were delivered to those companies and entrepreneurs that put themselves in the spotlight particularly for their activities in the previous year. Apart from the several companies awarded in the different categories of the competition, a number of special Lifetime Achievement Awards were given to: Dr Giorgio Squinzi (MAPEI) in the category ” Materials and Additives Producer “, Mr Benedetto Di Maria (D.B. SYSTEM) in the category “Machinery & Equipment Manufacturer”, Prof. Mario Collepardi (ENCO) in the category “Consulting / Engineering Firms” and Eng. Giuseppe Parenti (PAVER) in the category “Precast Concrete Producer”.
The gala dinner also offered great networking opportunities, where people could share information with some prominent figures from the political world and the concrete industry. Among the guests attending the award ceremony there were the Mayor of Piacenza Paolo Dosi, Eng. Antonio Lucchese (Director of the Higher Council of Public Works), Ms Paola De Micheli (Under-Secretary of State for Economy and Finance) and Mr José Blanco from Spanish Concrete Repair Association, whose project is to institute an European centralized Concrete Repair and Protection Association.
“The final impression” – concludes Fabio Potestà, Director of Mediapoint & Communications and Organizer of GIC, – “is extremely positive, both in terms of exhibitors, visitors and logistics choice. Given its location and size, the Piacenza exhibition center is strategic for a niche event like GIC. I hope that some initially skeptical visitors of a very first edition of a new trade show format, given the results, can turn into exhibitors in the future. We can already communicate the new dates: next GIC Italian Concrete Days will be held, again in Piacenza, from 8th to 10th November 2018″.
